3 HEAVY nights of rock

"Bridgstock '04" (July 7, 8, 9, 2004) was notable for its very dramatic lighting effects, its sophisticated sound system, and its repertoire of contemporary "heavy" material. The set list and presentation were clearly designed to appeal to the young students who avidly bought up the tickets, and the performers were rewarded with what must have been the most enthusiastic (and vocal) audience response to date.

Nicole Roughton's "Aeroplane" and "Price I Pay" revealed a maturity of vocals way beyond her years, whilst Rosie Preston took a break from her familiar supporting role on the violin to turn in a very impressive version of "Summer's Gone". (Rather appropriate considering the change in weather outside!) Adrian Whitehouse also displayed the range of his vocal skills on "Pet", a song which starts quietly but builds to a dark and disturbing climax as "the bogey man's comin', the bogey man's comin'"!

Amidst all this rock the evening's most soulful moment came with the combination of Rockshow veterans Fran Alton and Rebecca Wallis, pairing up to give an emotionally charged medley of Lenny Kravitz and Evanescence ballads.

Other performers included Tim Price, Jessie Lancaster, Jacob Hodgkinson, James Calver, Ellie Beck, Sarah McCalla, Ellie Keys, and Ellie Beck.

The Staff Band performed a medley of "You Really Got Me" and "Born To Be Wild", (joined on stage by some suitably "wild" dancing courtesy of Ellie and Sheyda!), before Sophie Goodwin brought everyone back out for a joyous encore of "Sweet Child Of Mine".
